Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope you had a restful summer with family and friends and have had time to rejuvenate for the 2010-2011 school year.

Manor ISD celebrates the beginning of 2010-2011 with five schools rated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as Recognized based on student performance.  Bluebonnet Trail Elementary, Blake Manor Elementary, Decker Elementary, Presidential Meadows Elementary, and Manor Elementary will be rated Recognized. Congratulations to all on a job well done!

As the new school year approaches, district staff and I look forward to building on the successes of last year’s accomplishments and strengthening the bond between the home and school. In order for us to attain this, we must continually communicate what’s happening in the district, we must offer opportunities for you to become involved, and we must hear from you on ways we can continually improve.

These are several concrete steps that will take us in that direction:

  • District leaders will host various events that promote opportunities for dialogue and increased understanding between parents and school staff.
  • Professional development will be provided for staff on ways that will impact student achievement.
  • Hoof Prints district newsletter will include upcoming events and ways for you to become involved and will be mailed to you four times a year.
  • News and events will be sent through campus newsletters and posted to the district and campus websites regularly.
  • Regular parent events will be offered in the district and on your child’s campus.
  • Phone information system messages will sent for parents to hear information about emergencies and important events.
  • District and campus leaders will offer parents the opportunity to serve on advisory councils and committees.
  • Parents may complete an on-line volunteer application and become an active part of their child’s school.
  • Parents and community members will be encouraged to attend the board meetings and have the opportunity to participate in the open-forum portion by signing up before the regular meeting begins.
  • Families may join the Superintendent’s Twitter account, located on the main page of the district’s website, to receive updates on happenings in the district.

I’m looking forward to 2010-2011 school year and meeting new students and parents and seeing all of you whom I have had the pleasure of being acquainted.

Most importantly, my door is always open to you. Please don’t hesitate to call or come by central office to see me.

Sincerely,

Andrew Kim
